The high speed, low cost alternative to leased lines
What is G.SHDSL?
G.SHDSL is the latest DSL technology to hit the market, but unlike its x.DSL predecessors it is an internationally recognised ITU standard – G.991.2. Drawing on the better features from previous DSL technologies and encompassing a few new ones of its own, it is effectively the ultimate DSL!
How it works
You rent an EPS8 (four wire) or EPS9 (two wire) circuit from BT; then purchase and connect a modem to suit the network connection you need either end: Ethernet, G.703, or Nx64 (X.21 and V35). It's as simple as that. Depending on the grade of the copper and the distances needed, 2.3Mbps and 4.6Mbps throughput can be achieved on respective circuits.
How can you benefit from a G.SHDSL link?
- Money saving - G.SHDSL provides higher throughput than Megastream leased lines for a fraction of the cost
- Flexibility - Our AM200 modems allow you to share bandwidth, enabling extension of 30 voice channels from your PBX plus provision of 300kbps-dedicated bandwidth for data over just one link. This is user configurable allowing you balance the bandwidth as you please
- Bandwidth - The AM2048 modems allow connection to EPS8 (4 wire) circuits, doubling your throughput without doubling your cost or compromising the distance!

Products
AM2 and AM8 G.SHDSL Routers
The AM2 G.SHDSL router is ideal for both SO/HO Internet access and branch office applications where access to a central office’s network resources is required. The AM8 allows you to utilise EPS8 circuits giving you double the bandwidth essential for larger businesses.
- 1 and 4 port versions available
- Optional firewall
- Easy web based configuration and management
- IP routing and transparent learning bridge
- PPPoA and PPPoE support user authentication with PAP/CHAP/MS-CHAP

AM200 3 port G.SHDSL modem
The AM200 3-port G.SHDSL modem allows three network sources to share one G.SDHSL link. These modems can be configured to share the bandwidth in numerous ways either using a CLI via the serial port, the web interface, or using telnet. The modems can be configured to specify which of the nx64kbps time slots are allocated to each source, giving you full compatibility when connecting PBXs. The integral routing and bridging also makes LAN connection simple.
- Data rates from 64kbps to 2.3Mbps
- Integrated bridge / router LAN interface
- Optional V.35 / X21 / RS530 or G703 interfaces
- Bandwidth allocation
- LCD front panel and remote management options

AM2048 modular G.SHDSL modems
The AM2048 modems can transmit over 2 (EPS9) or 4 (EPS8) wires and hence can provide double the bandwidth over the same distance as two wire modems or can increase the distance whilst maintaining the same bandwidth.
Our AM2048 has modular network interfaces. Choose from G703 (75 and 120Ohm), X21, V.35 or e-PIM 10 Base-T and USB (features high-end bridge / routing capabilities) and should your needs change in the future, the modules can be swapped out on site.
- Data rates from 64kbps to 2Mbps
- Range of modular interfaces
- Transmission on EPS9 (1pair) and EPS8 (2pair) circuits
- High-density rackmount option
- Extensive test and management features
- Point-to-point and point-to-multipoint operation
